Two-Man Room Clearing

Two is the practical minimum. With two, every room becomes a geometry problem: which door type, which corners are blind, which entry method covers both unknowns fastest.

Cross — for center-fed doors

1-man enters and crosses to opposite corner; 2-man enters behind and goes the other way. Each owns the corner they couldn't see from outside.

Buttonhook — for corner-fed doors

Each man hooks back to the wall on his side. Useful when the door is in a corner and one direction is already 'known.'

Slice everything you can first

Even with only two, the threshold pie should reduce the unseen sector to as small as possible *before* either man crosses it.

Cross-entry — step by step

1-man stands on the strong side of the door. He calls 'on you, cross.' He pies, then crosses the threshold and immediately moves to the opposite corner of the room (weak-side). 2-man, who has been stacked behind him, now crosses to the strong-side corner. Both end up in opposite corners, weapons inboard, room covered.

Buttonhook — step by step

Used when door is corner-fed. 1-man enters and immediately curls (hooks) back along the wall on his side. 2-man enters and hooks the opposite way. The hook keeps each man hugging the wall instead of crossing into the open.

Picking on the fly

If you can see the door and identify it as center-fed before the entry, default to cross. If it's clearly corner-fed, default to buttonhook. If you genuinely don't know, slow down and pie more — never guess in the doorway.

What kills two-man stacks

1) Both men using the same method when the door doesn't support it. 2) 2-man entering before 1-man is set, fouling each other in the threshold. 3) Skipping the slice. 4) Not calling 'set' — the team can't bound to the next room without it.

Common questions

Can I solo-clear?

You can, but you accept that every angle you can't see is a coin flip. Use limited penetration whenever possible — never enter a room solo if the slice can answer the question.

Which game is best for two-man drills?

Ready or Not has the best two-man support of any consumer sim — small rooms, AI that punishes bad geometry. Zero Hour second.

Where do I find a consistent two-man partner?
