Squad Tactics Training

Squad tactics aren't taught — they're drilled. The reading takes a weekend. The reps take a year. The fastest cheap way to bank those reps is a tactical sim with a coordinated voice squad.

Four drills cover most of it

Bounding overwatch, react-to-contact, react-to-ambush, break contact. Get fluent in these and you're 80% of the way there.

Comms structure first

Squad lead → fireteam leads → riflemen. Never skip the chain. Every call routes through the right node so the squad lead's situational picture stays intact.

Drill night, every week

TGH milsim night runs at least one of the four core drills as a warm-up before the main op. You leave each night with measurable reps.

Why squad tactics break in sims

Most squads break because comms aren't structured. Six people on the same channel all reporting threats simultaneously = squad lead has no picture. The fix is fireteams: Alpha and Bravo report internally first, fireteam leads pass *one consolidated* call to squad lead. This is unsexy and absolutely the difference between a working squad and a mob.

What 'react-to-contact' should sound like

Rifleman: 'Contact left, two infantry, 80 meters.' Fireteam lead: 'Alpha, contact left, suppressing.' Squad lead now hears one clean report and can react. That's the structure. In a random pub squad it's six people screaming over each other and the squad lead pulls back because he can't make a decision.

Building reps that stick

Reps only stick when there's a debrief. After every drill, TGH milsim night does a 60-second 'what went right / what we missed' walkthrough. The rep without the debrief is half a rep.

Where TGH fits in

We're not pretending to replace a real-world squad-leader course. We're providing the high-rep, low-cost environment for the *coordination* layer — calls, structure, decision-making. Pair it with whatever real-world training you have access to.

Common questions

Do I need to memorize all four drills before joining?

No. Show up, listen, ask. The element leader on milsim night will run you through the drill being practiced that evening.

How long until I can lead an element?

Members rotate into element-leader slots after they've shown up consistently for ~3–4 weeks. We coach you through your first few.

Is this milsim or just regular sim?

Both. We run a mix — milsim-leaning Arma Reforger nights, more relaxed Squad nights, and CQB-focused Ready or Not nights. Pick the lane that fits you.
