Ready or Not Tactics

Ready or Not is the closest a consumer game has come to making CQB feel actually consequential. The AI punishes bad geometry. Doors matter. The team that wins is almost never the fastest — it's the one whose stack discipline holds up.

Use the mirror gun

Every door, every time. The mirror gun is your slice-from-cover before commitment. Skipping it is the #1 cause of dead 1-men.

Stack roles before entry

Call 'I'm one, you're two' before approaching the door. Mid-entry role confusion gets people shot.

Patience is the meta

Speed-running RoN punishes you. The squads that consistently S-rank are the ones that pie every angle, mirror every door, never rush. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.

The mirror gun is the meta

Most new players ignore the mirror gun because it 'breaks immersion.' Reality: it lets you do exactly what real teams do — see into the room before committing. Use it on every door. The two seconds it takes save five lives.

Door reads

Before stacking, name the door type out loud: 'corner-fed,' 'center-fed,' 'open,' 'closed.' If closed, who's opening it (1-man, 2-man, kick, breach)? If open, who's slicing from which side? Calling this out loud forces clarity and gives the rest of the stack the picture.

Stack discipline that wins maps

1-man on the strong side of the door. 2-man stacked tight (but not bunched). 3-man covers the rear. 4-man covers the next door if it's already visible. On entry: 1-man slices then crosses, 2-man crosses opposite, 3-man takes depth, 4-man holds rear. Same script, every room.

Where to find serious RoN squads

TGH runs Ready or Not nights specifically for stack-discipline drills. The voice channel debriefs every clear. If you've been pubbing with randoms who sprint into rooms, this will feel like a different game.

Common questions

Is RoN realistic enough to actually transfer?

For the cognitive/decision layer of CQB — yes, more than any other consumer game. For physical skills — no, nothing on a screen does that.

Solo with AI or co-op?

Co-op every time if you can. The whole point is the coordination layer.
