Slurs, harassment, and personal attacks get a fast warning, then a mute. We rarely have to. The room polices itself.
Most members have jobs, kids, or both. Nobody has the energy for drama. The vibe sets itself.
Mic discipline is the floor. You'll hear callouts, not screaming.
Three things: (1) Adult skew — most members are 25–45, so the immature behavior just isn't there to begin with. (2) Mic-required — when people are talking with their real voice, they behave better than when they're typing anonymously. (3) Light, fast moderation — officers (volunteer mods) drop in on flagged voice chats and resolve it in minutes, not days.
First incident: a private nudge from an officer. Repeat: removed from the squad, sometimes muted in voice for the night. Pattern: removed from the community. We've had to permanently remove fewer than a dozen people total. Most people who join either fit instantly or leave on their own within a week.
We have ranked squads, clan wars, weekly tournaments, and grinders running 100+ hour weeks in their main game. Competitive play is alive and well — it just happens without the screaming. Turns out you can take winning seriously and still treat your teammates like humans.
