Best FPS Settings for 2026 (Pro-Tested DPI, Sens & FOV)

Your settings are either helping you or handicapping you. Most players never touch their defaults, which means they're playing with input lag, wrong FOV, and audio that hides footsteps. Here's how to fix that. For the audio-specific deep dive, read our sound settings guide.

Sensitivity: Lower Than You Think

If you're on mouse, start at 800 DPI with 4-6 in-game sensitivity. You should be able to do a 180° turn with a full swipe across your mousepad. On controller, start at 5-6 horizontal, 4-5 vertical, with linear response curve. The goal is consistency — not flick speed.

FOV: Go Wide But Not Too Wide

Set your field of view between 100-110 on PC. Console players should push it to max (usually 120). Higher FOV gives you more peripheral vision but makes targets smaller at distance. Find the sweet spot where you can see flanks without losing gunfight accuracy.

Graphics: Performance Over Pretty

Turn off motion blur, film grain, and depth of field — they look cinematic but hide enemies. Set textures to medium, effects to low, and render resolution to 100%. If you're below 120 FPS, keep lowering settings until you get there. Smooth frames win more fights than pretty shadows.

Audio Settings Matter More Than You Think

The Controller Dead Zone Fix

If you're on controller, check your dead zone settings. Default is usually 10-12%, which means your stick has to move 10-12% before anything happens. Lower it to 4-6% for faster response. If you get stick drift, bump it up slightly. For crossplay squads, input parity matters even more.
